I think it’s important to give back to causes that mean something for you. There are many worthy causes out there, and narrowing it down to just a few can be difficult. One of the charities I support is called America’s Vet Dogs. They are a non-profit charity founded by Guide Dogs for the Blind (another worthy cause.)

America’s Vet Dogs provides no cost service dogs and mobility aids, as well as training to our nation’s veterans, and active duty servicemen and women. Their goal is to help the veteran regain independence and dignity.

Military Therapy Dogs can be found in hospitals comforting the wounded, where a set of soulful brown eyes and the ability to listen without judgement can help a soldier recover. The dogs even deploy overseas, offering comfort from combat and other emotional stress, including Post-Traumatic Stress disorder.

Physical and Occupational Therapy Dogs are on the sidewalks guiding a vet shopping, and at home picking up a dropped item. They can even brace veteran getting out of bed, and help them get up if they fall.

Completely training a service dog can cost in excess of $50,000. All of this is done at no cost to the veterans or their families. If you’d like to help them help more veterans, just click How to help. Thank you.
